I've had this post lined up for a few years, at this point, and I've never finished writing my picks. So, I thought now was the perfect time to jump into the best smelling chocolate perfumes for men. I decided to pick eleven colognes or unisex perfumes, with raw cocoa or refined chocolate notes as the main ingredient.

Note: I will come back and update as needed. Some on the list may be old and now discontinued, but I've added new releases that are widely available and inexpensive.

What are the best chocolate fragrances for men?

Unique designer of Cocoa

Jean Paul Gaultier Kokorico Eau De Toilette Spray for Men, 1.6 Ounce The cocoa is mixed with an earthy and spicy patchouli note.

It calms down later, on wear, but the opening can be very punchy with lots of figs.

Some people don't care for figs at all. Personally, I like it, and I think it goes well with the whole mix.

Kokorico turns into cocoa with a sweet, smooth, and very distinct aroma. There used to be a sweet flanker version of this called Kokrico by Night, but it's really hard to find a bottle, after it was discontinued.

Update: This one can be hard to find now, too.

Not pure chocolate, but it smells good

Christian Dior Dior Homme Intense Eau de Parfum Spray for Men, 1.7 Ounce– For me, the cocoa is more visible in Dior Homme Intense than, in the original. It smells of chocolate powder, with dry cedar, vetiver, and of course iris around the cocoa note.

This is not a pure chocolate scent, per se, but it plays a major role in this one of the best scents on the market. The act of opening this fragrance, is one of my all-time favorites, and it gives great performance. My full review

Valentino mix

Valentino Uomo FOR MEN by Valentino – 3.4 oz EDT Spray– Uomo is not an entirely chocolate-led scent, but the point is there. However, it will be combined with bergamot, hazelnut and coffee notes, furthering its gourmand style.

It shares many similarities with Dior Intense and the classic Dior Homme. However, it does its own thing, and I enjoyed it enough to grab a full bottle.

Sweet creaminess and bergamot citrus juice are very evident in the opening act. Later drying will reveal more of the leather, coffee, and that sweet side of chocolate. Don't expect a full chocolate pick-me-up, but you'll get a lot out of this, just mixed in.

Extremely Sweet

Bad Boy ExtremeI'm going to put Bad Boy Extreme on the list, as I think this is the best thing on the list. It has a significant cocoa note, but obviously Bad Boy Dazzling Garden, it's very focused on that I understand. Haven't tried that flanker yet, though.

This is a blend of notes like cocoa, plum, tonka bean, and ginger. Sweet, spicy, and fresh early. But, once it's down, I personally find a lot of cocoa and tonka beans working together.

It's not exactly a chocolate scent, but it should work well, if that's what you're looking for. It works well with a cologne that can easily find a place in one's fragrance rotation.

Nutty, Spiced, cocoa

Chelsea Night with Bond 9– This perfume starts with cocoa and hazelnut that come on strong.

The cocoa note is more prominent of the two but the hazelnut is present and adds a great nuttiness to the mix.

Chelsea Nights isn't all sugary and sweet. It has saffron, oud, light rose, and myrrh. Yes, it's sweet but it has a cinnamon kind of kick that comes in, heat, a little bit of smoke floating underneath.

The finish has a nice touch of rich suede and vanilla. But, this combination of leather and saffron note is still in the mix. It has stabilized in terms of flavor and sweetness.

Soft and creamy. Chelsea Night hits many different levels with its depth and is worth checking out. Not a chocolate scent to stand alone, but with a good mix of other notes, for what we want.

Woods and Cocoa Bean

Giorgio Armani Emporio Armani Diamonds Eau de Toilette Spray for Men, 1 Ounce– Cocoa bean, bergamot, and amber lead Emporio Armani Diamonds out of the gate. It's a bright trio, not heavy but with a dynamic sweetness.

This then dries down with the base of the treebut chocolate is always delicious. Works great and just smells great. The opening of citrus and cocoa beans is a wonderful beginning, a warm note of amber fills the heart of this fragrance.

Drys down with a nice base of vetiver and guiac wood. Although, it is not too heavy and gives a nice and smooth fragrance.

Cheap Chocolate

Masaki Matsushima Chocolate Mat Eau de Parfum Spray, 2.7 Ounce– A very sweet and inexpensive chocolate perfume, adding coconut, musk, and creamy sandalwood to the chocolatey top note.

The best part is that there is a hint of watermelon hidden in its depths, which gently emerges, before folding back into the mix. Not great staying power, but one that's cheap enough to reapply.

The ultimate gourmand

Bond No. 9 So New York with Bond No. 9 Eau De Parfum Spray 3.3-Ounces– A unisex fragrance from Bond No. 9, New York, uses cocoa powder and espresso (the former dominates), to create a sweet and delicious aroma.

It opens with tart plum around those two notes and dries down with that role played by patchouli. It may be simple, but it is very beautiful.

Chocolate flavored, but discontinued

Polo Big Pony 2 By Ralph Lauren Edt .5 Oz- Every line of Big Pony from Ralph Lauren has been simple and straightforward, and this one is no different. The 2nd big pony takes on a cocoa and hot pepper/musk combo.

It's a warm scent and the dry down is a lot of chocolate and musk, with a little pepper for a kick. You can still find bottles nearby, but it's getting tougher.

Sweet Coffee and Chocolate

(Boutique Coffee Collection (Men) – Paradiso Eau De Toilete 3.38 Fl Oz)– A fresh and tropical blend of coffee and cocoa, with amber and coconut. This one is sweet, with a hint of cardamom, which isn't too heavy but gives it the distinction of being an aromatic cup of coffee.

A great gourmand and a man with a strong blend of chocolate aroma mixed with coffee beans.

Chocolate cravings

MONTALE Chocolate Greedy Eau de Parfum Spray, 3.4 fl. oz. Chocolate Greedy gives you the aroma of lovely chocolate, supported by vanilla, and a hint of coffee.

The coffee is mostly round, at first, but it is taken by the bitter orange.

Honestly, not a fan of the bitter orange note, but in the end it's not too distracting. As it dries down, it takes on more of a chocolatey baked goods aroma, along with its warmth.

Up front it can smell more like dry chocolate powder. Of course, this is a cocoa note, but vanilla and other notes add creaminess.

Very good work here. The aroma goes from baked goods to a creamy sensation during mid-game. Not too sweet or sugary.
