Eros Flame, for a long time, was the only flanker that was really different from the original Eros. Now, we have Eros Energy (and the only one in Dubai) to help move thinking away from being just another close-up of the main formula.

With this in mind, I wanted to compare the two Versace colognes to give a clear picture of which is the best for those looking to get themselves a bottle of Eros. Which fragrance lasts the longest? Does it smell better?

Read my review: Power

Opening

With Eros Flame, my first bottle was very strong with lemons and oranges in the first spray. But, the last few times I've tried it, it seems to have been toned down a bit.

Those two notes are joined by pepper, chinotto accord, rose, vanilla, and tonka bean. The rose and vanilla appear more on my skin, as it starts to move into the mid action.

Eros Energy starts with a ton of citrus. For me, it comes in waves. First, we get a mixture of abundance: lemon, grapefruit, bergamot. Then: lime, orange, and blackcurrant enhance the tartness.

Very juicy and fresh as it comes. Some light fragrance is present, but not very strong.

Eros Energy also has amber and woodiness, which will become more apparent later.

Which one is better?

I think they are both good. I tend to like how Eros Flame kicks things off, more than what I get with Energy. The energy is intense for sure, but that intensity can wear me down, early on.

Edge: Flame

An estimate

Eros Flame has always been a powerful scent. I think it lost a step or two in the first bottles. That first team was insanely strong.

For a while, it sounded like one of the most innovative colognes out there. Now, it's still a beast, but it's a beast.

Power has a good strong start. It's not a heavy scent, but that citrus opening is sharp, and can definitely reach a room with a good amount of spray.

When it's ready, it smells good for a few hours. After that, it will be more intimate.

Between the two, it's a pretty easy win for the Flame. Eros Energy puts up a good fight in that opening, but it can't maintain or reach the same peak as its Versace counterpart.

Edge: Flame

Long life

Eros Flame lasts 10+ hours, at least with my first bottle. It may increase up to 15 before stopping completely.

That, however, is the first release. This latest sample I got, doesn't have the same staying power. Maybe it's just a sample, but it seemed to last around 8 hours.

With Eros Energy, I get 5-7 hours of wear from it. It's not nearly what the Flame is capable of, but it's not meant to be.

Edge: Flame

Flexibility

Power is the first Eros cologne that works well for spring and summer. The citrus formula is designed for hot and humid temperatures in that part of the year.

However, it doesn't work as a fall and winter outfit like the Flame. So, it's kind of broken down, and it depends on what kind of scent you want.

Energy is a common type of smell. It can be good for certain occasions, when it's hot outside, but it doesn't have the same nightlife or romantic wear as Flame.

The flame is more well-rounded for use cases as opposed to what you get with this new Eros flanker. It's not the best of the season, just different, but he'll be one of the guys that reaches more often than the Powers.

Edge: Flame

The whole smell

Overall, which of the two perfumes do I prefer?

I wore Eros Energy a lot, when I first bought the bottle. I wanted to make sure I spent a lot of time wearing it in different situations. Overall, I think it's a great fragrance.

Nothing fancy, has nice moments, but not a cologne I want to wear regularly. Plus, here in January, it's just sitting on the shelf.

While I'm not human, that's a big deal for Eros Flame, I still love it more than I do energy. I love its scent and the complexity of the notes more than I do the big citrus scent of this flanker of the new Versace Eros.

Eros Flame is better. It used to really bother me, in a dry place. Although, trying a few samples last year, I don't mind it. Flame is not my absolute favorite scent, it's good, and better than Power.
