Kilian's Angels Share has been a popular buy for years now and has been released in many different editions, trying to replicate that success. At the moment, Smoking Hot is the most popular item in the brand, but it hasn't received the same attention.
However, the two are often compared to each other. So, I thought I'd do a post, comparing them. Which one smells better? Long last? And is it better to buy?

Opening
Angel's Share begins with a signature cognac, oak, and bean note. The cognac has an apple-like sweetness to it, which is wonderful.
The sweetness is enhanced by the addition of vanilla and praline. All play well in a punch with a spicy note of cinnamon.
It's a great mix of boozy, sweet, and spicy. Very warm with its aroma and can be baked good baked in the undercurrent in the mixture led by cognac.
Meanwhile, Hot Smoking kicks things off with a blend of apple and cinnamon. But, it doesn't strike me as being exactly like Angels' Share. It smells even better Apple Brandy on the rocksjust replacing that note of brandy with a smoking shisha.
But, surely there will be a connection between them.
Fruity, sweet, explosive, spicy, and fresh. The cinnamon note is not as strong in Smoking Hot, as it is in Angel's Share. In addition, you get moss and a soft clary sage note, adding brightness and green dimension to this fragrance.
Vanilla, too, is in the mix, but feels more prominent later.
Which one is better? It's a close race. However, I still prefer the act of opening a Share of Angels infused with cognac over Smoking Hot. However, I like the latter a lot.
Edge: Angels' Assignment
An estimate
Both of these perfumes have a strong opening action. I think that Angel Shares have peaked and their slow rate breakout is slower to fall compared to Hot Tea's.
However, each of these Kilian perfumes is strong, but not sweet. That will remain in the middle, but still visible.
The performance difference between the two is interesting. Angels' share is the harder of the two and the more accessible, in its estimation.
But, while taking this category, longevity is more than the competition.
Edge: Angels' Assignment
Long life
With Angel's Share, I get 9-13 hours of wear on my skin. It's not a complete powerhouse at all, but I definitely get a good, long lasting experience with this Kilian perfume every time I wear it.
Smoking Hot actually corresponds to Angels' Assignment for me. Again, it's not even the 10 hour mark yet.
I have worn each of them recently. I haven't noticed any of them taking the edge in this category. So, I'll call it a painting.
Edge: Push it
Flexibility
Seasonally, each of these items is best in fall and winter. I think the hot smoking is better than it's competitor at slightly warmer temperatures, as it is slightly lighter as a fragrance.
I wore it outside in 65 degree Fahrenheit weather and the Warmth was fine. I wouldn't push it into the summer, but it might go into the spring.
The sweet aroma of hot smoking shisha and Angel's Share cognac may prevent them from becoming everyday wear for some people. The middle and final stages of Angels' Share are not too boozy.
It's already a bestseller, so, I'm sure a lot of people wear that perfume to work without issue. With a thick, hot hookah smell. Consider that.
Both are about equality in terms of clothing and entering the nightlife. There is not much separation here.
Edge: Push it
The whole smell
In general, which of these Kilian Spices i prefer?
Both of these are great. However, I still lean towards Angels' Assignment.
I love the sweet mix and the use of cognac in the mix. Rich oak and praline-like notes come through. A nice kick of cinnamon right away. It is a perfume I have worn for many years and will continue to do so.
Smoking hot is close to being perfect, but it falls short. I love apple smoke right away. The first introduction is not long enough, I wish there was more time for this issue.
Drying under hot Smoking is also very good. I get more woodiness, vanilla, and there is a licorice note here that seems more noticeable, later in the wear.
It's one that I wear a lot now and would pick up a full bottle. It's a fragrance worth trying. I still prefer Angel's Share in my head for comparison.
If Angel's Share is too sweet, feminine, or boozy for you; Smoking Hot may be the best option. It's still unisex, but it seems to lean more masculine to most people.
