10 Best Givenchy Colognes for Men

Givenchy is a French design house with a lot of history behind it and certainly a great legacy of producing fragrances for men and women.

In this list, I have chosen 10 of what I feel are the best colognes to smell by Givenchy, if they have produced. I have updated things to provide more options, as some have been discontinued, since I published this page.

Best Seller/Best Seller

Pi by Givenchy For Men. Eau De Toilette Spray 3.3 oz
A sweet blend of vanilla and almond with undertones of cedar, rosemary, and mandarin to give it a woody and citrus flavor.

Pi is another good choice for those who like vanilla (along with Le Male and Opium) and is best used in winter. Longevity is hit or miss.

The new bottles feel very different, than the old ones, that I remember. It still has that great vanilla and almond combination and a lush boozy flavor. Although, it feels like a step is missing.

Privee Entry

Sir Right to Retain- Some people seem to like this one more than I do. I think it's a great fragrance with a surprisingly good opening action. After that, it's okay, but still worth a look.

Reserve Privee kicks things off with bergamot citrus, whiskey, and chestnut. An iris note is also present, giving this Givenchy fragrance a classy floral touch. But, a whiskey with nuttiness and bergamot is very good.

As it dries down, it becomes more about iris, amber and woody notes. The chestnut seems to be a chocolatey scent rather than nutty. All the dry, hot, and volatile booziness I loved is gone.

However, this is a good cologne at least and could be a great signature scent for guys. The performance is solid and this is one you must try. Keep Privee for full review

Another Mr

Gentleman EDP– I'm late to this one, but it definitely deserves a spot on the list. Personally, I have never been so excited about trying an EDP, since EDT version it wasn't very impressive. This is him.

Gentleman EDP is good and might be better for some guys compared to Reserve Privee. The iris score gets compared to it Dior Homme Intense and very Valentino, it is a sweet fragrance for both of them. Better than Valentino, I think.

This iris note is joined by incense, benzoin, woody notes in the drydown, and the creaminess of vanilla (with a nice helping of tonka bean, too). It's not too heavy, with its light citrus top note, but one that will be an autumn and winter outfit.

Good performance, doesn't disappoint me, in this regard. The Gentleman EDP is a crowd pleaser, sure to gain traction and is very easy to wear in most cold weather situations.

So pretty

Gentleman Society Extreme– This has quickly become a favorite of mine in 2024. I was not very impressed The first organization release, but this Extreme version is terrible.

Peppermint, nutmeg, and iced coffee really help break this up and give it a better balance than the EDP.

Cool and fresh, combined with a hint of sage and vanilla. It definitely has an iced coffee vibe to it, but one with extra flavor mixed into it.

A lot of iris and a little bit of sage and daffodil, found in the first Society. Obviously, there are overlaps, but this is a better formula that can work better. Society Extreme won. Community Extreme reviews

Boise

Gentleman EDP Boisee– Coriander and black pepper give Boisee a fresher start than expected in an iris based cologne. This flanker is a great entry from Givenchy and is an option for those looking for a woodier edition.

Cocoa beans and patchouli as more depth of Gentleman Boisee, but really this will be about iris, sandalwood, and cedar in the last stage of wear.

It has many similarities to the original EDP listed above. However, I think I prefer this one with the earlier burn and later woods.

Functional enough, but Boisee smells great and is easy to wear in a variety of situations. The Gentleman Boisee Review

Sweet, Smooth, and Masculine (Discontinued)

Only Serious Men– Gentlemen Only Intense, for me, the best release from the Gentlemen Only line that Givenchy released in the last 5-6 years. This one opens with a smooth, warm and sweet scent.

tonka bean, die, and the leading amber. This is the opening act that definitely attracts me, as these are some of my favorite notes, used in men's perfumes. Much sweeter than the original Gentlemen, with a bit of a new spiciness, at least at first.

However, you will find mint, pink pepper, and mandarin orange as the first.

As it dries down, you will get woody/smoky aromas emerging. But, everything remains smooth and masculine. The downside here, is the longevity and overall sillage. It's really a medium scent and not really 'sharp'.

This is discontinued, but it's the most important thing, if you can find a cheap bottle online. Gentlemen only In-depth review

Classic Givenchy

Givenchy Gentlemen Only Eau De Toilette Spray for Men, 100ml, 3.3 ounce
A fragrance that debuted in the 1970s, Gentleman is a spicy/woody fragrance with notes of patchouli and leather as its highlights.

Ripe and refined with a citrus note that adds some sweetness to the mix.

The men opened with a big and bold fist. Citrusy spices and earthy undertones, which will dominate later. Oh, and the usual skin note.

This is perhaps best worn by a mature man or simply a stylish young man who can appreciate a blast from the past. It's still a powerhouse.

The Best Givenchy Cologne

Xeryus Rouge for Men by Givenchy 3.3oz 100ml EDT Spray
Xeryus Rouge seems like a different beast all together. Starting with notes include things like cactus, geranium, and pimento to go with base things like cedar and sandalwood.

Second, it has that exotic and oriental kind of quality to it…spicy but fresh and slightly watery. Xeryus Rouge is unique and the kind of special cologne that can set a man apart from the crowd.

It's sweet, spicy, and totally fresh. This has been around for decades now and is totally underrated, in my opinion. The red bottle really matches the character of this one. Warm and smooth, with herbal highlights. Good stuff.

Organized everyday wear

Givenchy Pour Homme by Givenchy for Men Eau De Toilette Spray, 3.3 ounce
Notes include cedar, tangerine, coriander, and grapefruit. A light citrus/woody scent that is very clean and raw.

A note of cedar leads things here and is combined mainly with tangerine, and a hint of grapefruit.

Beyond that you get a hint of wood, and spicy coriander, to give Givenchy Pour Homme an edge. A good everyday wear option.

Fresh Summer Spice

Givenchy Pour Homme Cologne, Blue Label, 3.4 Ounce
Another attempt at citrus and woods, however, did better than the scent above. This is a scent built for summer with notes of grapefruit, bergamot, tangerine, pepper, cedar, and vetiver.

Obviously, the two have a lot of overlap between them, go with this one if you prefer a more citrusy scent versus a cedar-led one. That's not to say, that Blue Label smells like Pour Homme, it doesn't.

The blue label has a sweet fruity top and then changes to wood, with a mix of pepper and cardamom, to give it some spice.
