This flanker has already received attention as a suitable second act in the line. But, does it really live up to the hype? How long does it last? Is Society Extreme worth a try?

My full review

I grew up loving the first one Gentleman's Association a little bit after I tried it at first. However, it's never been something I've had much fun wearing. So, I really didn't expect much coming to the Senior Test.

I have to say, this version is better to my nose. Yes, they are similar but the differences are enough to make the difference, for me at least.

The opening here really sets the tone. It's like an iced coffee drink flavored with nutmeg and peppermint. A mixture of burning and later warming. Not to mention the clary sage from the original is still there. Although, in a reduced role.

The addition of a coffee note is delicious. I've seen a few reviews saying they don't get much coffee, but it sticks with me, thankfully. This is one of the notes that appealed to me before trying this version.

The iris here is the rich orris root. It's definitely a nice scent, but it's not the focus at all. Iris is not at the level of this L'Homme L'eau by Prada.

Coffee, fresh spiciness, flour, and a hint of vanilla are what I get on the first wear.

After a while, we will start going to its wooden aspects. But first, iris and narcissus shine next to the coffee note.

To me, this has less narcissus than the first one, at least in my memory. The first had cardamom and narcissus paired with vanilla, while this one features coffee, iris, vanilla, and mint.

Either way the weight of my skin goes to the root of the orris. There is a little green floor or ground here. Faint at times, but between floral notes, vetiver, cedar, and sandalwood this starts to become woody as we stand.

The tail end will be iris, vanilla, coffee, vetiver, and cedar. It depends on the time, which article is leading at the time, but they all seem to shine. In fact, this is when Extreme seems to smell the most in the first Society.

Sillage, Longevity, and Versatility

The first Society was a very good fragrance in its debut and was above average for a long time.

Plus, it's more powerful with its early predictions, and it does a better job of keeping track of everything.

Now, it's not a complete monster. However, it has a lot of reach, especially in the first few hours.

It's not too difficult either. It's definitely substantial, but this perfume doesn't wear down or feel stuffy to me. Sage, cedar, etc. they do a good job of giving this just enough flavor to keep it nice.

On my skin, I get 10-11 hours of wear with this one. It's not a complete forecast bomb, but one that will stick and show up for a long time. Good value, especially if you can get a bottle on sale.

Seasonally, I would stick to fall to early spring for this Givenchy. I've worn this on a hot day before and it wasn't very good at that point. Although, in cold weather it hangs well in the cool air.

The additional points give this item greater balance and improved style than the original. It is more acceptable to all age groups, where the Association felt it was suitable for men in their 20s.

However, this saves energy during the day or night. It's a great fragrance to wear in a variety of situations from party to date and in between. However, it doesn't mean much or anything if it can't fit in the office.

Total Manifestations of Extreme Humanity

Overall, do I like Society Extreme? Well, it's one of my favorite designer releases of 2024. Not that it was too heavy on the field in a slow year, but it's actually a very nice perfume that I enjoy wearing.

The coffee note and peppermint combination does it for me. That opening is different from the original and the overall composition has a better balance with everything.

Underneath the outgoing sage and freshness are well integrated with sweet notes. In addition, the Givenchy iris is still large.

Society Extreme lives up to the name, giving you the best performance of designer wear, while checking the box for being an everyday fragrance.

After trying a sample, I bought a full bottle on Black Friday for $100. I would say it's a sale price, if you don't get a discount, but I'm sure it will be available for what I paid again soon.

This is worth a try and I think it will continue to grow in popularity. A simple flowery walker that won't alienate the average guy by straying too far into the 'flowery' area.
