YSL currently has many releases in its catalog of men's fragrances, which have gained huge popularity. The eau de parfum is a bestseller and has been around for over a year now.

Myslf EDP is a recent release, but it has become a favorite among fragrance lovers, and will no doubt release more fragrances under the Myslf title. However, which of the two colognes is better? Which one lasts longer? What is the best thing to buy?

Opening

The EDP starts with a bold kick. It's a strong bergamot, apple, and ginger blend at first. Then, amber, juniper berry, and tonka bean will appear. However, that first burst is very juicy, bold, and blue.

I know some people don't like that first punch, but I like it. I actually think it's the layer of amber and juniper that might put some people off. But for me, the combination of apple and bergamot grabs my attention with its bite.

Sage also comes in handy, even at this early stage of the process.

Myslf starts with bergamot and orange blossom, as the two main ingredients. It's fresh, versatile, and has a hint of creaminess in the fragrance. The orange blossom adds that aspect, but it doesn't get much sweetness at first.

But, the first step is the smell of bergamot. That will change later, but at first it is the new citrus cologne.

Which one is better? This is a close race between them, as sometimes Y EDP can be too bold for me in the opening act. However, I think I still prefer what I get versus Myslf, at first. Both are fun, but I have little choice.

Limit: Y EDP

An estimate

The EDP starts with a lot of punch and comes across as very strong. However, I would call it above average overall. It's not a monster, but it's strong and visible everywhere.

That first hour or so, can be a lot, especially when you go with a high number of sprays. Although, it always seems calm to me, while I still have a lot of energy.

Myslf for the first hour is really strong. It's not a heavy scent, but it will create enough of a scent trail in your wake. It can't reach the same level as other YSL fragrances.

After that, there is a close smell around you. I'd say it's stuck in the 1-3 foot range from the skin, but it's still visible.

Easy win for Y.

Limit: Y EDP

Long life

Y EDP lasts about 10 hours on my skin. It may take a long time or a short time, depending on the circumstances. However, it almost always seems to hit those double digits for me.

Myslf EDP lasts for 6-7 hours, before fading completely. Well, not just a great player. Especially, compared to my Y bottle.

The eau de parfum is the best performer you'll find in the works, YSL's new release.

Limit: Y EDP

Flexibility

Myslf eau de parfum is an easy to wear fragrance, which can go anywhere in any season. Maybe not during the summer, but otherwise it's fine.

It's easy to spray on as everyday wear, but it's attractive enough to hit the nightlife, even if that's not your main activity. It will not be overwhelming and can work for all age groups without issue.

The EDP will also be very effective throughout the year. Also, I went with something light for the hottest days of the year.

It's also something that can go basically anywhere. None of these are the most formal scents and you might want to go with Myslf, if you want a less subtle scent. However, I don't see much of a difference in this category.

Edge: Push it

The whole smell

Myslf EDP is a lovely fragrance. It's simple and delicious. I love the opening work with a burst of citrus, it's very versatile, and can easily be worn as an everyday outfit.

There is additional wood and amber, in the back half. Although, this scent is not too heavy. Good performance, but not great, and I don't think the scent is perfect compared to Y.

The EDP is very fragrant and very attractive. Sometimes, I'm not in the mood for blue-ish cologne, though this is YSL it works perfectly when I'm there.

It may be similar to other popular perfumes, but it uses different notes, making it stand out from the pack. I love apple, bergamot, and sage on top. Bright, clean and modern scent, and performance does not disappoint.

For me, I enjoy the experience of wearing Y more than I do with Myslf. Regardless, I think the latter is a very nice perfume. I still prefer Y EDP over other releases, Myslf Le Parfumas well.
